Overview
VR training for Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) operations — the gas-handling system that captures low-pressure hydrocarbon vapors off crude/distillate storage tanks, runs them through a scrubber to drop liquids out, and compresses the dry gas back into the fuel-gas or sales line. Trainees walk the unit, identify the compressor, scrubber, and VFD, and rehearse normal-state and fault-condition procedures in headset before working on the live equipment.
Role
Lead Dev — Unity build, environment authoring, procedural training flow, multiplayer session layer.
Highlights
- Component-level identification: compressor, suction scrubber, VFD, knockout vessels — all in a faithful 1:1 environment.
- Procedural training with staged failure modes (high-level shutdowns, abnormal pressures).
- Multiplayer sessions — instructor and trainee in the same scene, or whole crews running the procedure together.
- Quest 1 standalone, no PC tether.
